Lady of the Night Orchid
Brassavola nodosa is a small, tough species of orchid native to Mexico. It is also known as “Lady of the Night” orchid due to its citrus and gardenia-like fragrance which begins in the early evening. Flowers are about 4 inches across and can bloom any time of year but usually in spring and summer. They are salt tolerant and can even be found growing on mangrove roots. Its fragrance and whitish-green color combine to attract night-pollinating moths.
